Recommended Volume Treatments by Area (Juvelook Volume / Sculptra, Radiesse, Fillers)

Hello, this is Dr. Kim.

I’m still meeting many patients these days who are looking for solutions to restore volume and rejuvenate their appearance.

Today, I’d like to share my personal recommendations on which products work best for each facial area.

“Juvelook Volume is trending!”

But should you follow the trend blindly?

Not necessarily.

Choosing the right treatment isn’t just about what’s popular — it should be based on multiple factors like:

  • Treatment mechanism

  • Onset of results

  • Longevity

  • Cost

  • Possible side effects

Let’s start by comparing the basic features of Juvelook Volume / Sculptra, Radiesse, and hyaluronic acid fillers:

This is just a simplified summary.

Now let’s look at how I plan volume treatments by facial area, based on the characteristics above.

(1) Cheek Hollowing

Recommended Treatments for Sunken Cheeks: Juvelook Volume, Fillers, and Sculptra
Sunken Cheeks - Juvelook Volume, Fillers, and Sculptra

Target area:

Front to side of the cheeks.

This is a common area that loses volume due to gravity, facial contouring surgery, orthodontics, or even masseter Botox.

When this area hollows, it can accentuate cheekbones or sagging (see blue arrow):

Recommended treatments:

Juvelook Volume / Sculptra or HA Fillers — all are suitable.

Wondering whether to choose a collagen stimulator or filler?

Here’s a simple way to think about it:

  • Juvelook / Sculptra = 30% volume + 70% elasticity improvement

  • HA Filler = 100% immediate volume effect

If you prefer a gradual and natural change, go for collagen stimulators.

If you want visible results in just one session, fillers are the better choice.

You can also do 3 sessions of Juvelook Volume first, and then add a small amount of filler to fine-tune the result.

Before – Completed 3 sessions of Juvelook Volume – Cheek filler added to enhance volume further

Doctor, don’t fillers migrate or spread?

If injected into the right layer with the right technique, it’s very rare.

And even if it happens, fillers can be safely dissolved and redone.

(2) Nasolabial Folds

I rarely use fillers for this area.

Even though it’s uncommon, there’s a risk that filler might migrate upward over time.

Instead, I prefer collagen stimulators, as they rarely move post-injection.

Recommended treatments:

  • Radiesse: Gives a well-defined shape and shows quick results. Best done in 2 sessions, 4 months apart.

  • Juvelook Volume / Sculptra: Takes more time than Radiesse, but cost-effective if you want to treat other areas as well.

    Before and After Radiesse Treatment
    Before → 1 month post 1st Radiesse → Immediately post 2nd Radiesse

(3) Tear Trough + Front Cheek (Midcheek)

These two areas are often treated together because the sagging of the front cheek fat pad causes the tear trough to appear more sunken.

Recommended treatment approach:

Option 1: HA Fillers

  • Under-eye filler (e.g. Restylane Eyelight): 0.5cc

  • Front cheek filler (I prefer Juvederm Volift): 1cc

Before and After Restylane Eyelight Treatment
Restylane Eyelight – 1 session: Before / After

Option 2 : Collagen Stimulators

  • Under-eye: UltraColl

  • Front cheek: Juvelook Volume

Before and After UltraColl Treatment
UltraColl – 2 sessions: Before / After

Personally, I prefer Option 1 (fillers) in this case.

That’s because the skin under the eyes is very thin, and if nodules form from collagen stimulators, it can be visibly problematic.

(Nodules are less noticeable in thicker areas like the cheeks or nasolabial folds.)

Today, we looked at recommended volume treatments by facial area.

However, depending on the shape and degree of volume loss, the best approach can vary greatly.

That’s why it’s crucial to consult with an experienced doctor in person, and receive customized planning based on your unique facial structure.

Thank you for reading!
